Our Background...

TENNIS 101 was founded in Aliso Viejo in 1995 and has been serving the south Orange County tennis community continually since then. We specialize in high quality private and group tennis instruction, and tennis camps, for beginning-level adults and children.

Our passion for teaching tennis has produced numerous college players, hundreds of high school players, and thousands of recreational players, who in turn have all developed their own passion for the sport. For children, we offer a structured, disciplined and fun pathway to play 'The Sport for a Lifetime.'

Regardless of your experience: whether you've never played a sport before, are returning to the game after a lengthy absence, or are an active player looking to improve your skills and consistency, we invite you to contact us to learn more about this great sport.

The Method...

To successfully attain the skill set necessary to become a competent
recreational player or a legitimate competitive player, requires a solid
foundation of fundamental skills.

"The success that Greg Langdon and his methodology have enjoyed is due largely to his experience as a teacher, his philosophy of combining a structured learning environment with fun and fitness, and his passion for the sport of tennis."

The Langdon Method enables a student of any age or skill level to learn and perfect the basics of form and technique through active on-court instruction.

Utilizing a variety of proven drills within a progressive learning method, a student is systematically guided through the fundamentals of stroke formation and footwork, while concurrently developing the brain and muscle memory necessary for excellent consistency in the three major strokes of the game: ground strokes, serve, and volley.

For the beginner, the entire sport is broken down into increments that are learned in a step-by-step process to enable the student to acquire the requisite hand-eye coordination, timing, and spatial relations.

For the intermediate and advanced level player, the program offers a vast array of shot specific and game-situational drills for singles and doubles that enables the student to master more complex shot selection and strategic play in a competitive environment.

The Pro...

Greg Langdon

Throughout his career, Greg has built a formidable reputation and successful business on his patient and dedicated work with children, and his care and attention to detail when working with adults.

Greg Langdon has been teaching tennis in southern California for over forty years. Born and raised in Auckland, New Zealand, Greg's career as a tennis instructor began in 1983, as manager and assistant pro of the Beverly Hills Tennis Center. Two years later he became Head Professional.

In 1986, Greg’s reputation as a specialist in teaching the fundamentals of tennis continued to grow quickly. With a burgeoning clientele, he formed his own tennis instruction company, Langdon’s Professional Tennis, which he operated in Beverly Hills and West Los Angeles until his relocation to Orange County in 1992.

In 1993, he was appointed Executive Director of the California Division of the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) the national trade association for tennis teaching professionals. Among the many accomplishments during his three-year tenure, he created and published 'ProFile', the bi-monthly divisional newsletter, and created and coordinated the inaugural Southern California Tennis Convention. In 1994, he received the highly coveted Professional of the Year award.

In 1995 he founded TENNIS IOI, an independent tennis instruction business in south Orange County, specializing in private and group instruction for beginning adults and children. That same year, he was appointed Director of Tennis for the Aliso Viejo Community Association tennis program in the city of Aliso Viejo, one of the first recreational programs developed for the new city, offering year-round instruction for groups of all ages and levels, in addition to After School Tennis, and Tennis Intensives for competitive juniors.

In 2009 he created the TENNIS 101 subsidiary, OC Tennis Camps offering summer tennis camps for Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced-level children of all ages, plus the highly popular Tennis Team Boot Camps, the ultimate preparation for high school and tournament competition.

To this day, Greg's passion, enthusiasm, and positivity, combined with his lifetime experience on the court, inspires adults and children alike to embrace the life lessons and physical, mental and emotional challenges that the sport of tennis offers everyone.
